Faux mercury glass mason jars

Over the past few months I have seen quite a few faux mercury glass crafts.  This is one from The Shabby Nest which I love.  This is my first try at it, many of the tutorials I have seen spray the inside so of course I needed to try something different;)  I sprayed with water on the outside and then sprayed with the looking glass spray paint.  The following are some pictures I took of my process:

I washed the jars and wiped with alcohol prep pads to make sure I had a clean dry area...
I put the jars upside down on spray paint cans so there wouldn't be any sticking to the newspaper.....
I wanted to add chalkboard tags to them when they were finished so I also got the stars ready to be painted.  I sanded the rough edges and removed all stickers and sticky residue they leave behind....
I sprayed the jars with water and then the looking glass spray paint...
I also painted the stars with chalkboard spray paint and let them dry.
This reminds me of an algebra problem C=A+B...
This is how I finished them.  I painted the lids with a black satin spray paint I had on hand and tied some twine around the top and glued the chalkboard stars to them.

I am happy with the way they turned out and look forward to trying some other projects similar to this.  I just love the faint mirror look.  Thank you for visiting my blog:)  ~Angi

I've used the looking glass paint, but not for faux mercury. Yours turned out great.
