Pumpkins!

These are adorable and so easy to make! I have seen these year after year and this is my first time making them.   Have a roll of bathroom tissue? Your half way done:)  Wrap the bath tissue in newspaper and then wrap in fabric that you like.  I used a little piece of burlap as the stem.  So cute!

My husband took these into work this afternoon and they were gone within minutes.  Everyone loved them.  The recipe came from my MIL who got it from her mother.  Here it is:

1 tsp. vanilla
2 C sifted flour
1tsp baking soda
1 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp nutmeg
1/4 tsp ginger
1 C raisins (or 3 little snack boxes:)
1/2 C nuts ( chopped slightly)

Beat sugar, pumpkin, oil & vanilla
Sift together dry ingredients
Add to wet mixture 1/2 c at a time mix all together until smooth
Mix in raisins and nuts
Drop by spoonful on greased or parchment lined cookie sheet
Bake at 350 for 12-15 minutes

Pumpkins from paperbacks

They are just so cute!

These are the cutest things!  I have seen these  paperback pumpkins all over the place and just had to make myself one.  I got my idea from here  I bought 1 paperback from a $1 store and found 2 more at Goodwill.  I took off the cover and started folding pages.....one book was over 560 pages!  That's a lot of folding:)  I glued the first and last pages together and stuck a piece of a branch in the center, added a leaf I cut from felt and tied a bow.  The face I cut from a template I made from a template.
