The chairs are completed!

Hello!!!!  I'm sorry for the lack of posting.  I had a suspicious spot on my back and face that needed to be biopsied.  I found that when I got near the computer I would want to "Google" and that got me freaked out a little!  Yikes!  Well got the results in and the biopsy on my back was benign and the biopsy on my face couldn't make it through the second round of testing because there were not enough cells left.  The doctor is going to recheck in a month and we will go from there.  So I have basically spring cleaned my house including the garage to keep me busy!  LOL!  My hubby is happy because now I will actually sit down and relax:)  Any who...on with the post!

These chairs were given to me by my mother in law.  I had traded her for my cushioned kitchen chairs and table.  The table to go with these has a white tile top and a pedestal.  The table is going to be refinished and I will do something with the tile top, just not sure yet.  These babies were perfect to go with my table from Goodwill that I refinished, HERE   and HERE but that meant more sanding, stripping and painting.  The finish from the factory on these chairs is tough, but I won that fight!  LOL!  They went from this:

I LOVE it!  The two chairs I already had and it all matches wonderfully.  It was definitely worth all the hard work.  Thanks so much for reading!

  4. Saw your post on Skip To My Lou. I have an almost exact match of this table and chairs and I have been wanting to paint them black for the longest time. However, I am at a complete loss when it comes to something like this.

Will you PLEASE show (step by step?!) how you re-did the chairs? They look awesome!!!

  6. The chairs I really wanted to do a distressed look as I did with my table. The white was a bear though! LOL! I normally would use Citri-strip because it has no odor really. It wasn't "tough" enough so I went with regular old $8 can of stripper and that worked pretty well. Then I sanded and sanded. When I got it good enough to paint I used Martha Stewart paint which I really like...no odor and covers well. Then I lightly sanded in the areas that would get worn, like the edges and stained them. After that I used a polyurethane to finish. If I hadn't wanted to distress them in some areas I would have given them a little sanding, primed and painted:) I hope that helps:)
