Sun-bathing piggy cake

This was one of the most fun cakes I have made! A friend of my hubby's was watching wrestling with his daughter, Julia, and they showed a pig cake at some point. She loved it! He asked me if I would be able to make one...just a plain pig he had in mind.  Julia is a fantastic swimmer and is on her school swim team and likes to scuba dive.  That gave me an idea!!   So for her birthday I had to girl the piggy up!  Bathing beauty style!

Her cute little face:)

A side vewe of her laying out in her "bathing suit"...how do you like the swim cap?  LOL!
The tail is so cute!!

She kind of looks like a Hawaiian piggy with the flowers I chose to do.

Here she is just arrived to the party.

I even gave her top a tie in the back...and those ears...so cute!

I guess you can tell I really loved her!  I made her out of a WASC (white almond sour cream recipe here)  and used RKT (rice krispie treats recipe here)  for filling her out in some spots.  I used modeling chocolate (recipe here) and some fondant decorations (here).  Thank you so much for stopping by and reading:)

Onesie dress

I love all the adorable baby girl stuff out there on the web, and wish I had a little baby girl to make all this stuff for!  I have one daughter and she just turned 19.....

oh how time flies:(  Well I do have a new little niece and she is 3 months old and now I have someone to make all the cute stuff for:)

I made the dress in size 12 months so I don't have any pics of her in it yet:)  I can't wait to see her in it though!

I don't know if you have been to visit Prudent Baby and if not you must!  LOL!  They have some of the cutest tutorials for baby items.  I found the cutest 10-minute onesie dress easiest dress tutorial and had to give it a try.  It is so easy and of course you can change it up how ever you may want to fairly easy.  I decided to use some "rocker chick" type fabric and added a crown iron on and a bow.  It turned out adorable!  Almost makes me want a baby......ha ha almost!  LOL!

I have a couple others I am working on that I can't wait to send to her mommy:)  Thanks for stopping by and reading my post.  It really means a lot:)

Trash to treasure

I was driving with my husband to my in-laws house and along side the road I spotted this entertainment stand.  I was like "honey stop I gotta check this out", he of course was like "no way!".  So we got to my in-laws house and of course I mentioned the treasure along side the road and her and my father in law were like lets check it out.  LOL!  Well we ended up bringing it home:)  My honey was even surprised at how good of condition it was in.

Sorry for all the Christmas decor on it.  I got this treasure and took pics before my bloggy days:)  So yes, this was in the trash on the side of the road!  Not a thing really wrong with it.  I just did some touch ups with one of those stain markers and washed it up and moved it into my den.  Well I knew I wanted to do something to give it a new look, but wasn't sure what.  So it stayed like this for two years and then we moved into our new house and then I decided what I wanted to do.  Here is the after picture:

I sanded and painted it a country white.  Then I sanded some more to give it a distressed look and wiped it with a dark walnut stain.  I didn't really want to keep the glass in the front so I spray painted it black and stapled it to the front.  The iron like star knobs I got for .99 cents each a a little store called Cape May Wicker in NJ.  I love that place!  I live in Florida now so I don't get to go but maybe once a year.  So what do you think of it?  I love it!  Its a new look for now:)
